“Checkwaving” is a network marketing industry terminology to refer to so-called bighitter network marketers who use their 6- or 7-figure bank accounts to entice prospective distributors to sign up with them. Such “checkwavers” many times have NO WORKING KNOWLEDGE whatsoever on how to do the marketing aspect for their business opportunity.
A true bighitter in internet network marketing WOULD KNOW how to do the marketing aspect for their business opportunity. Even if he did boast of his earnings, at least a true bighitter DOES HAVE the knowledge on how to do internet marketing for the network marketing business and can teach it to you.
It is an unfortunate fact that many newbie network marketers fall prey to the tactics that checkwavers use. Once the prospects sign up, they never hear from the checkwaving sponsor anymore. Checkwavers who employ such tactics to build their businesses normally have very weak downlines because the checkwaver can never teach their distributors the MARKETING knowledge that it takes to build a successful multi-level marketing (MLM) business.
I have one friend in Austin, TX who is an avid outbound network marketer; i.e. a marketer who bugs the hell out of strangers at social functions. In fact, that is how I met him. His sponsor made his millions in network marketing and that was the only reason my friend sign up with him. As of 2010, he has been in his MLM business for 8 years and still hasn’t been taught anything on how to do attraction (inbound) marketng. His sponsor, nevertheless, was a checkwaving network marketer.
I can’t emphasize this enough. When you are seeking a mentor in network marketing, do not let your potential sponsor’s huge bank account get to your head. Look beyond the numbers padding his checking account to see if he really has the knowledge to teach you to be successful in network marketing.
