HOUSTON, Texas — A waiter at a posh steak restaurant in Houston received commendation after refusing service to a man who made offensive comments to a customer with special needs.
Michael Garcia, a waiter at Laurenzo’s Prime Rib on Washington Ave in Houston, was praised for his actions last week as he stood up for a boy with Down’s syndrome as another customer bellowed obscenities at the child. The boy, Milo, and his family are regular customers of the establishment at where Garcia works.
Initially, Garcia made attempts to accommodate the offensive customer by offering them a seat elsewhere, but when the patron began making obscene remarks about people with Down’s syndrome, that is where Garcia drew the line and told the man that he will no longer be served by the hero waiter.
Since this incident, Mr. Garcia had been receiving comments of praise all over the world for his actions as he defended the boy and the boy’s family.
