DFW high school English teacher fails two students who wrote about guns

A high school English teacher is in hot water after he allegedly threatened students with a failing grade because they chose to write about “guns” as part of a homework assignment.

Dewey T. Christian, English teacher at Denton high school, stifled his students’ right to freedom of speech after he asked them to write about pleasant experiences that the students had. Two of his students chose to write about guns.

One student wrote about his experience about buying a gun with his mother while another student wrote about his experience at a recent Fort Worth gun show.

Nothing in the students’ homework mentioned anything about school shootings nor intent to harm anybody. It seems that Mr. Christian’s intent was to violate his students’ civil rights.

Simply the word “gun” is what ticked off this teacher, and now he faces disciplinary action for violating his students’ civil rights.

If you want to know Mr. Christian’s side of the story, feel free to call him at 940-383-1902 or write him at 2100 Pembrooke Pl in Denton, Texas.”
