The actual on-and-off romance between “Teen Mom” personalities Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley hit such a damaging low earlier this week that the reality celebrity allegedly attempted to take her own life. MTV affirmed to the Daily News on Tuesday of which Portwood had been hospitalized, but could not discuss the accuracy of reports that stated she had attempted suicide. Portwood’s sibling Shawn told E! News that the couple’s unstable relationship took a turn more intensely last Monday.

“Amber told us she had a panic attack last night after Gary began calling her names,” he explained. As Shawn stated, a “verbally abusive” Shirley threatened to take their 2-year-old daughter Leah permanently.
“Our whole family thinks he’s the reason behind all of Amber’s problems,” Shawn mentioned. “He’s constantly threatening to take Leah away.”
Police in Anderson, Ind., verified they took Portwood to the hospital Tuesday after a caller mentioned she was “depressed and threatening to end her life.” Shawn explained Gary’s mother had been the caller knowning that nobody bothered to inform the Portwood family members when the 21-year-old ended up being rushed to the emergency room. Star magazine first broke the story, along with sources informing the magazine Shirley had requested his mother to check out Portwood. Shirley somewhat hinted regarding some trouble Monday when he tweeted that he “never cheated on Amber” and “will always love and respect her even if we aren’t together.” He included, “Due to recent events, it was best that Amber delete her Twitter.”
