Hi, guys. This is Marco Abanico with MLM Television.

Are you aware that a few cups of coffee a day can do a lot more than keep you awake? Coffee has been proven to have a number of health benefits that surpass your alertness levels.

Here are the benefits of coffee.

Coffee contains antioxidants

Coffee is a primary source of antioxidants for many Americans. The purpose of antioxidants is to neutralize free radicals, which mutate cellular DNA, thereby promoting cancer cell proliferation.

A recent study found that most Americans get about 1300 milligrams a day of antioxidants from coffee alone.

Coffee promotes weight loss and elevates cellular metabolism

Because coffee is a stimulant, the caffeine within can elevate cellular metabolism, thereby enhancing weight loss and energy levels. If you look at the ingredients listed for most over-the-counter weight loss supplmenets, you will find that caffeine is often a primary ingredient.

Be careful though, as too much coffee or caffeine can make you jittery, promote anxiety, and abrupt your normal sleeping patterns.

Coffee increases brain function

A recent study found that individuals who drank at least one to two cups of coffee per day scored significantly higher on memory recall, cognitive ability, logic comprehension, and basic IQ tests.

So, the next time you’re drinking coffee to get you through that late-night study session, remember that it is doing a lot more than just keeping you awake.

Coffee minimizes the incidence of Alzheimer’s Risk

When comparing 2-cup-per-day coffee drinkers to those who drank less than 1 cup of coffee per day, scientists found that the individuals who drank more coffee were considerably less likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease.

Coffee minimizes the incidence of Parkinson’s disease

Two studies have been focused on the link between coffee and Parkinson’s disease. One study found that heavy drinkers were less likely to develop the disease when compared to non-drinkers while another found that the amount of coffee consumed was inversely proportional to an individual’s likelihood of developing Parkinson’s.

Coffee reduces the incidence of adult onset (Type 2) diabetes

A study done by the Harvard School of Health found that men who drank approximately 6 8-oz cups of coffee, or 3-4 standard mugs, could lower their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by as much as 50 percent. In the mean time, women could also reduce their risk by almost 30 percent.
